Pimpri, Pune (February 1, 2026): The Pimpri Chinchwad Education Trust (PCET) provides state-of-the-art educational facilities from KG to PhD. To ensure the excellent physical and mental development of students alongside their academic growth, high-quality sports infrastructure has been established in all branches of PCET. Therefore, it is commendable that Pimpri Chinchwad Polytechnic has been awarded the hosting rights for the wrestling competition, said PCET President Dnyaneshwar Landge.
The D-1 Zonal Wrestling Competition, organized by the Inter Engineering Diploma Students Sports Association, was hosted by Pimpri Chinchwad Polytechnic. The competition, held at the Pehlwan Marutirao Landge International Wrestling Center in Bhosari, was inaugurated by PCET President Dnyaneshwar Landge. MLA Mahesh Landge initiated the first wrestling match. Present on the occasion were industrialist Narendra Landge, Principal Dr. Vidya Bankod, Sports Director Prof. Santosh Pacharne, Anuja Kamthe, Bharti Bhase, Gauri Jadhav, Gayatri Jagtap, Sadashiv Landge, Rupesh Pawar, Somnath Khedekar, M. M. Sheikh, wrestling referees, coaches, and participating players from 12 different polytechnic colleges.
Wrestling matches were held on the mat in the 57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 97 kg, and 125 kg weight categories. The winners and runners-up were felicitated with mementos and certificates by Corporator Adv. Nitin Landge. Corporator Amit Gawade, Director of Pavana Cooperative Bank Jaynath Kate, social workers Santosh Maharaj Landge, Nivrutti Landge, Suresh Landge, Rajendra Landge, Santosh Machutre, Principal Dr. Vidya Bankad, and others were present on this occasion.
The results of the competition are as follows: In the 57 kg weight category, Shreyas Shinde of Rajarshi Shahu Polytechnic, Tathawade, defeated Pranav Veer of Zill Polytechnic. In the 61 kg weight category, Abhimanyu Bangude of Zill Polytechnic pinned Om More of Jaihind Polytechnic. In the 65 kg weight category, Aditya Bharekar of Zill Polytechnic defeated Ayush Rokade of Samarth Polytechnic. In the 70 kg weight category, a match was held between players from Bhivrabai Sawant Polytechnic. In this match, Kiran Kolpe defeated Sagar Ghorpade to secure the first position. In the 74 kg weight category, Vishwajit Torve of Zill Polytechnic defeated Durvankur Landge of Pimpri Chinchwad Polytechnic. Similarly, in the 86 kg weight category, a remarkable match took place between two players from Rajgad Polytechnic, in which Dhiraj Sarak defeated Ayush Veer. In the 97 kg weight category, Vikul Sangole of Pimpri Chinchwad Polytechnic defeated Samir Khutwad of Zill Polytechnic. In the 125 kg weight category, Karan Thombre of Bhivrabai Sawant Polytechnic defeated Anand Waghmare of Kustro Wadia Polytechnic to secure the first position.
PCP’s sports in-charge Sunil Jagtap, Kishore Gavhane, and Lakshmi Tharkude organized the competition under the guidance of Principal Dr. Vidya Bankad. Vijay Kute and Vishal Mohite served as wrestling referees, and Rahul Pawar and Yogesh Thackeray served as team managers. All the winning players were congratulated by PCET President Dnyaneshwar Landge, Vice President Padmatai Bhosale, Secretary Vitthal Kalbhor, Treasurer Shantaram Garade, Trustee Harshvardhan Patil, industrialists Narendra Landge and Ajinkya Kalbhor, and Executive Director Dr. Girish Desai.
