Ramesh Jadhav wins national gold medal in the 8th National Master Games swimming competition
Secures entry into the International Master Games in Japan

Pimpri, Pune (January 31, 2026): The 8th National Master Games competition, organized for the first time in Maharashtra by the Super Master Games and Sports Federation, was held in Pimpri Chinchwad. The competition included a total of 23 team and individual sports. The swimming competitions were held on January 28th and 29th at the Annasaheb Magar Stadium swimming pool in Pimpri.

In the men’s 70+ age group swimming competition, senior citizen Ramesh Jadhav (age 73) from Kendriya Vihar Society, Moshi, Pune, Maharashtra, won a total of four medals, including a gold medal, in the national-level finals. Ramesh Jadhav won a gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke, a silver medal in the 200-meter freestyle, and bronze medals in the 100-meter and 50-meter freestyle events. Ramesh Jadhav was felicitated with the medals by Vinod Kumar, Executive Officer of the Super Master Games and Sports Federation, Maharashtra President Ramsingh Sangha, and General Secretary Shailesh Phulsunge. Ramesh Jadhav is the only competitor from Maharashtra to have won a total of four medals in the men’s 70+ age group swimming competition. Ramesh Jadhav has secured his entry into the International Master Games to be held in Japan next year.

Ramesh Jadhav is a retired Class 1 entomologist from the Biological Control Center in Pravaranagar, operated by the Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, under the Central Government. He has been passionate about swimming since his youth. Previously, he won a bronze medal in the swimming competition at the Maharashtra State Master Athletics Championship held in Pravaranagar in 2005, and one gold and two silver medals in the swimming competition at the 6th Maharashtra State Master Games held in Pimpri Chinchwad in 2025.
